Reality bites
I have been told that my liver has had enough and my cholesterol levels have shot up. Told by a no-nonsense family doctor who has seen me grow from a boy to a man. Seen me go from 53 kgs to 82 kgs in six years. It's not a happy situation. It's true that your health deteriorates as your financial worth appreciates. Why? Because conceited and lazy people like me refuse to see the light. They make poor lifestyle choices in the belief that they are invincible. Or they pretend they are too busy to bother about such mundane things. I'm lucky to have a mother whose willpower is tougher than steel. Her words, and pain at the state of my health, have spurred me to action. I have made declarations in the past, but this time there is no looking back. I mean to set things right. The father's lack of willpower brought misery to the people he loved. His son will not repeat the mistake.
